Analysis: ** A decent brawl from these two men. It starts off kind of slow but they pick up the pace later and keep the match going well. The transitions of control are really abrupt and they both kick out of some big moves near the end but nothing too offensive. On the deathmatch scale this is a pretty tame match with only a little bit of blood from both men however it isnít as spot crazy as many deathmatches tend to be.

Ryuji Ito vs. Abdullah Kobayashi (Light Bulbs, Barbed Wire Board, Glass Death Match) (16:13) Setup: Two sides of the ring have light tubes hanging from them and the other two sides have barbed wire wrapped around the three ropes vertically. Two of the corners have barbed wire boards in them and the other two have glass panes in them.

Both men pull a light tube off the ropes to start and they both miss once before they hit tube to tube exploding them both. They go into a lockup and Abdullah tries to back Ito into the barbed wire but Ito fights free with some forearms. Ito goes for an Irish whip into the barbed wire board but Abdullah reverses and Ito puts on the breaks. The two men exchange some chops and Abdullah gets a short advantage before Ito ducks a punch and sends Abdullah through the ropes and some light tubes with a dropkick. Ito climbs up to the top and comes off with a dive onto Abdullah then slams a tube over his head and rakes it across his forehead and Abdullah is bleeding. Back into the ring and Ito hits a series of kicks that sends Abdullah down. Ito hits a legdrop and gets a two count. Ito grabs some tubes and puts them on the mat then powerslams Abdullah onto them. Abdullah grabs Ito and sends him down to the floor with a headbutt. Abdullah pulls him to his feet and throws him into the ring. Abdullah pushes Ito into the barbed wire wrapped ropes and drives him into them repeatedly with forearms. Abdullah taunts the crowd and breaks a tube by biting it. Abdullah then takes the broken tube to the forehead of Ito. Abdullah grabs two tubes and places them in Itoís groin and breaks them with a kick. Abdullah slams Ito down and then drops the barbed wire cactus on him and then steps on it in the area of its crotch. Abdullah grabs some light tubes and puts them on the mat then hits a Samoan drop onto them. Abdullah drops an elbow and makes a cover for two. Ito climbs up to the top rope and hits a missile dropkick and follows up with a spinning heel kick that sends Abdullah into a barbed wire board. Ito pulls Abdullah out of the corner and hits a northern lights suplex on some light tubes and bridges it for a two count. Ito goes outside and brings some chairs into the ring. Ito sets up two chairs and then puts some light tubes across them. Ito grabs a glass pane and slams it down on Abdullahís head. Ito sets up two more chairs and then goes to place the glass pane across them but Abdullah grabs a chair and tries to hit Ito to no avail as he has the glass in front and Ito sets the chair back up and puts the glass across it. Ito goes for a suplex but Abdullah blocks it and hits his own suplex that explodes the glass pane. Abdullah then grabs some light tubes and drops them with an elbow drop to break them across his chest for a two count. Abdullah picks Ito up and goes over to the light tube chairs and hits a version of the air raid crash for a two count. Abdullah sets some light tubes across the chest of Ito then climbs up to the top rope and comes off with an elbow drop for another two count. Abdullah whips Ito into the corner then charges with Itoís light tube chest protector and Ito kicks Abdullah in the chest breaking the tubes. Ito hits a scissors kick with some light tubes across the back of Abdullah. Ito powerslams Abdullah then places a light tube bazooka across the chest of Abdullah and comes off the top with a frog splash. Abdullah rolls through with a cover for two. Ito hits Abdullah with some kicks and Abdullah ducks one and hits a release German suplex but Ito gets right up to his feet and hits a shining wizard. Ito rolls out of the ring and grabs a light tube bazooka that is plugged in and breaks it over Abdullahís head. Ito powerslams Abdullah onto the remaining barbed wire board then puts a light tube bazooka and the barbed wire cactus on his chest. Ito then grabs two chairs and puts the glass pane over Abdullah then comes off the top with a big frog splash breaking everything and making the cover for three.

Analysis: **1/2 A brutal match between these two men. They break everything that is within range without making it seem too contrived. They keep the pace going well and the transitions between control sections are well done. The brutality in this match is good as both men bleed heavily especially Abdullah who has a nice blood patch across his back for a good portion of the match. Ito does some nice bleeding from the head but nothing too bad anywhere else. This is the kind of match I bought this DVD for and it doesnít disappoint.

Ryuji Ito vs. Mad Man Pondo (Circus Death Match) (12:55) Setup: There is a scaffolding setup next to the ring with two different levels on it. The ring has a barbed wire net strung inside it hanging from the top ropes. I believe you have to take your opponent off the scaffolding onto the net before you can make a cover.

The two men go into a lockup on the outside and Pondo strikes first with some elbows but Ito quickly turns the tide and Pondo staggers around the ring. Ito follows and Pondo gains the advantage again. Pondo throws Ito against the ring then throws a stop sign into his head. Ito shakes it off and sends Pondon into the ringside chairs with an Irish whip. Ito grabs a table and throws it down on Pondo. Ito takes the table towards the wall then comes back and hits Pondo with some punches to the head. Ito puts Pondo on the table then climbs up the wall about 12' at least then comes off with a splash to Pondo breaking the table. Ito grabs Pondo and takes him to the scaffolding and Ito pulls Pondo up with him to the first level of the scaffolding. The two men trade strikes before Ito throws Pondo onto the barbed wire net back first then jumps onto him with a senton and both men make their way off the wire and Pondo is busted open on the back of his head. Ito sends Pondo into the ringpost face first and then grabs a tarantula on the scaffolding. The two men start climbing the scaffolding again and they go to the first level. Pondo slams Ito onto the floor of the scaffolding face first a copule of times and then tries to throw him out to the outside but Ito blocks it. Pondo pulls Ito up to his feet and takes him onto the barbed wire net with a side Russian legsweep as the scaffolding floor tips over on them. Pondo has some trouble getting out of the wire but he makes it eventually. The two men start climbing the scaffolding again and this time they go to the top level and they exchange some punches. Ito tries to snapmare Pondo over but he blocks the attempt. Ito hits Pondo with some kicks then Pondo throws powder up into his face and plants him with a DDT. Pondo removes the support beams blocking the way and then grabs Ito and goes for a suplex but Ito blocks it. Ito spins around and goes for a suplex of his own but Pondo blocks it. Pondo goes for a powerslam but Ito slips behind him and goes for a German suplex which is blocked. Pondo then grabs Ito and takes him off with a vertical suplex. Pondo makes a cover on Ito and scores the three count.

Analysis: Dud About as good as a Circus Death Match can get. The fighting on the outside is fairly uninspired. They have some sloppy spots off the scaffolding to pop the crowd and thatís about it. I donít know why these guys couldnít have an exciting fast paced brawl on the outside before they go up the scaffolding it would just make the match that much better. Iím not a fan of the Circus Death Match. It sounds cool but the amount of brutality is really limited to the big spots and once youíve seen the spot once it loses all of itís flair.

Ryuji Ito vs. Mad Man Pondo (Fans Bring the Weapons, Light Tube Deathmatch) (14:39) Pondo chases a fan to the outside and Ito jumps him from behind and takes him into the ring. Pondo reverses an Irish whip sending Ito to the corner and charges but Ito blocks it with an elbow then grabs Pondo with the tarantula. Ito has Pondoís knife and Pondo backs away and starts getting the crowd chanting and Ito throws the knife away. Pondo picks the knife up off the mat and then cuts the head of Ito. Pondo takes Ito to another side of the ring and cuts him some more. Pondo has Ito on another side of the ring and goes to work on the forehead with the knife. Pondo whips Ito into the ropes and drops him down with a shot with the knife and makes a cover for two. Pondo pulls Ito up and shoves the side of the stop sign into his forehead. Pondo whips Ito into the ropes and drops him wiht a shot from the stop sign. Ito is sent into the ropes and he avoids two shots from the stop sign then hits a spinning heel kick and Pondo rolls out of the ring. Ito springboards to the top rope and comes off with a double axe handle that barely connects with Pondo. Ito whips Pondo into the chairs at ringside then hits him with the side of the chair to the head and then chokes him out with the chair. Ito takes Pondo towards the wall and slams him into it a couple of times. Ito drives a chair into the midsection of Pondo and chases after him but Pondo grabs an umbrella and pokes it into Itoís midsection then starts choking him with it. Pondo snapmares Ito over then suplexes the time keepers table onto Ito. Pondo slams Ito down on the walkway then pulls him into the ring. Pondo pulls Ito up and takes him down with a clothesline then throws him through the ropes and onto the walkway. Pondo then pulls him off and snapmares him down. Pondo grabs a bunch of chairs and folds them up and throws them onto Ito. Pondo gets on the walkway then gets a running start to make a very ugly senton onto Ito. Pondo pulls Ito up to his feet and tries to throw him into the wall but Ito blocks it and sends Pondo into the wall. Ito pulls Pondo with him and slams him into the ringpost then whips him into the chairs at ringside. Ito pulls Pondo to his feet and slams him face first into the time keeperís table. Ito moves the table closer to the wall and then he climbs up onto the balcony and comes off with a frog splash to break the table. Ito grabs half the table and slams it down over Pondoís head then rolls him into the ring. Ito sets up some light tubes on the mat and Pondon shoulders him in the midsection and goes for a suplex but Ito reverses it and hits a northern lights suplex onto the light tubes and bridges it for a two count. Ito hits the shining wizard and gets a two count. Ito powerslams Pondo down then grabs a big light tube bazooka and puts it on Pondo while he climbs to the top rope. Ito comes off with a big frog splash and only gets a two count. Ito rolls out of the ring and grabs a lighted light tube bazooka. He puts some normal light tubes down Pondoís shirt and then breaks them with some kicks before he puts the lighted light tubes upside Pondoís head and breaks those with a kick and makes a cover for a three count.

Analysis: * This match had too many things that were bad before it got good. Pondoís control segments were lame with some really crappy hardcore spots. He does three sentons and they got worse as he went on and they were never really good. The senton through the light tube cabin onto Ito is just a stupid spot anyways. Despite being called fans bring the weapons no fans brought any weapons. I was disappointed by the fact that they only really used light tubes. They had some chairs and a table spot but it was pretty much all light tubes and it was nothing too crazy either. Pondoís offense is just really sloppy in this match and he controlled a lot of the match so a lot of it looks really sloppy and bad.

Ryuji Ito vs. Badboy Hido (Fluorescent Light Tubes Casket Death Match) (13:07) Hido and Ito circle and go into a lockup and quickly break it. They lockup again and another break. Hido chops Ito and the two start trading chops. Ito takes the advantage with a knee to the midsection of Hido and grabs a side headlock. Hido shoots him into the ropes and drops him with a shoulder tackle. Hido whips Ito into the ropes and Ito ducks some strikes and sends Hido to the outside with a dropkick. Ito grabs Hido and sends him into the chairs with an Irish whip. Ito nails Hido in the forehead with a chairshot and then gives him a stiff shot to the back. Hido nails Ito with a punch to the midsection then sends him face first into the ringpost. Hido grabs a chair and slams it into the head of Ito. Hido pulls Ito up and slams him face first into the announcerís table busting him open. Hido whips Ito into the chairs and Ito takes a leap into them with some impact. Ito hits Hido with an elbow to the midsection and follows up with some hard kicks to the chest. Ito grabs a chair and slams it into the forehead of Hido. Ito pulls Hido up and sends him into the chairs with an Irish whip. Ito grabs a table and brings it over and sets it up. Ito slams Hido face first into the table and then lays him out on it. Ito ducks a second clothesline attempt and takes Hido over with a German suplex for a two count. Hido goes for another German suplex but Ito blocks it with a kick to the junk then follows up with a kick to the side of the head for a two count. Ito climbs to the top again and hits another frog splash. Ito grabs a third bazooka and puts it on top of Hido. Ito climbs to the top again and hits a third frog splash for the three count.

Analysis: Dud This match just sucked. Hido seemed really uninspired in this match and Ito was sloppy. They didnít go very hardcore and the use of fake barbed wire was really lame. The light tube spots are okay except he does it three times in a row. Ito does a crappy blade job in this match and Hido doesnít even bleed the hardway as far as I can tell although he is wearing a shirt so who knows. Iím sure this match is on the DVD for what happens after the match which is Ito getting jumped by Pondo and somebody else. They put him into a coffin and then light that bitch up. It doesnít light up very well though and it is quickly put out.

Ryuji Ito & Daisuke Sekimoto vs. Badboy Hido & Kintaro Kanemura (Light Tubes Death Match) (11:31) Setup: Two sides of the ring have light tubes across the ropes. Tornado tag rules apply

Ito bounces off the ropes and ducks some strikes then hits a dropkick that sends Hido to the outside. Sekimoto holds Hido and Kanemura up with light tubes in front of them as Ito springs to the outside but Hido escapes and slams the light tube across the chest of Ito. Kanemura grabs another light tube and slams it across the back of Ito. Sekimoto and Hido start brawling and Sekimoto controls until Hido kicks him in the junk. Kanemura and Ito brawl up the stairs and Kanemura throws Ito over the rail and through a table. Hido barely hits Sekimoto with a light tube by the ring to break it. Ito comes back to the ring but before he can get in Kanemura breaks two light tubes over his head. Hido whips Sekimoto into the light tubes and then hits him with a barbed wire bat shot to the chest. On the outside Kanemura whips Ito into the chairs and grabs a side headlock. Sekimoto plants Kanemura with a DDT while Ito hits a northern lights suplex on Hido for a two count. Sekimoto picks Hido up into a torture rack and Kanemura stops it with a kick to the junk. Sekimoto picks Kanemura up into a torture rack and Kanemura breaks a light tube over his head but that doesnít stop him. Kanemura then rakes the tube across his forehead breaking the hold. Kanemura bounces off the ropes and Sekimoto whips him over with a powerslam. Sekimoto takes Kanemura to the outside and puts him over the table and then puts a bazooka on top of him and Ito comes off the top rope with a frog splash through the table. Sekimoto picks Hido up for a doomsday device and Ito knocks Hido off his shoulders with a dropkick. Sekimoto slams Hido down to the mat and then puts a bazooka over his chest. Kanemura and Ito brawl on the outside while in the ring Hido hits Sekimoto with a lariat and covers for two. Hido puts a bazooka on the mat and then plants Sekimoto with a flapjack and makes the cover for the three.

Analysis: ** This is a real clusterf-ck of a match but it works in this type of environment. Everybody gets pretty f-cked up. Ito has a spectacularly bloody blade job by the end of the match. There is a lot of light tube work here and they do some nice high spots without over doing it although the powerslam off the balcony came really early on in the match. Hido seems kind of lame in this match but the other three guys do a good job with the environment.

Recommendation: Pass. First none of these matches are all that special. If you want your matches to have good stories and transitions then this isnít for you. There is the really bloody match against Adbullah Kobayashi but thatís about it. A lot of the crowd brawling in the matches seems really shitty to me. Most of the US Indy guys can do better than that and most of them arenít even close to being hardcore wrestlers. Secondly Highspots has a new collection of Ito matches. I donít know if the new matches on those collections are any better but the first volume in that series has the Kobayashi match which is the best thing on here. This is my first real experience with deathmatches beyond a few bonuses from IWA:MS shows but I wasnít very impressed with what I saw.
